In a remarkable display of party loyalty and internal unity, Hon. Gbadamosi Olaomo Saliu, the former councillor representing Ward A, Ipakodo, Ikorodu West LCDA, has voluntarily relinquished his mandate to his fellow contender, Hon. Jessica Enitan Oba, following the just-concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) councillorship primaries.
Although unofficial results showed that Hon. Gbadamosi secured victory with 16 votes to Jessica’s 10, he announced his decision to step aside in favor of Jessica, citing party supremacy and the need for peace and cohesion within the APC.
“My name is Gbadamosi Olaomo. I appreciate everyone, especially our ward delegates who participated in the primaries. The results are clear, I won. However, as a core party man who believes strongly in our party’s structure and leadership, I hereby bow to party supremacy and submit this mandate to my sister, Hon. Jessica Enitan Oba,” he said in a statement.
The decision was further confirmed by a statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Onanuga Ayotunde Patrick, who described the move as a show of respect for gender equality and internal decision-making processes.
“This gesture earmarks the importance of party unity, respect for authority, and the continuous progress of our members. We must now unite as one big family, devoid of malice and propaganda, and embrace peace as we celebrate and empower excellence,” the statement read.
Party members have lauded Gbadamosi’s selfless move, describing it as a testament to his commitment to the party’s long-term vision.
