Babajimi Benson officially commissioned the long-awaited Eruwen Road, a vital infrastructure project connecting seven communities and 19 Community Development Associations (CDAs).

The event was attended by community leaders, government officials, and residents who celebrated the project’s completion and highlighted its importance for local development.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Ikorodu North Builder Adeola Banjo, represented by Hon. Ibrahim Apanishile, applauded Hon. Benson for his visionary leadership and commitment to improving infrastructure in Ikorodu. He noted, “Before your intervention, this road was impassable, forcing us to take detours. Today, we have a safe and accessible route. Your efforts have made a significant impact, and we are grateful.”

Prominent community leaders, including Otunba Olaniyi Banjoko, expressed gratitude to Hon. Benson for his dedication to uplifting Ikorodu. However, Banjoko urged further action, requesting the reconstruction of the Radio-Chelsea Road, which served as an alternative route when Eruwen Road was in disrepair. He also called for the establishment of a junior high school in the area, emphasizing the need for improved educational facilities for local children.

The Second Vice Chairman of the Community Development Committee in Lagos State, Adeniran Ogunbanwo, highlighted Eruwen’s strong electoral support for Hon. Benson, noting that the community delivered one of the highest votes in Ikorodu North during the last election. Ogunbanwo reaffirmed the community’s commitment to voter registration and political participation.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr Nurudeen Yekini Agbaje, commended Hon. Jimi Benson for aligning with the state government’s agenda to transform rural areas into semi-urban hubs. He remarked, “This project is a testament to the government’s commitment to rural development. Hon. Benson has delivered a road that not only serves local residents but also enhances connectivity across Ikorodu.”

In his address, Hon. Benson reiterated his dedication to Ikorodu’s development. He revealed plans for additional projects, including constructing a bridge at Ogolonto, as well as roads in Agbede, Igbo Oluwo, and Kokoro Abu. He also emphasized the importance of Ikorodu receiving its fair share of resources, given its significant contribution to electoral victories at both state and federal levels.

“Ikorodu gave the highest votes in Nigeria during the last election. Our request is simple: Ikorodu deserves special status in Lagos State. I promise to continue working hard to make your dreams a reality,” Benson stated.

The event also featured testimonies from students and residents. The Head Girl of Oshosholu Primary School expressed gratitude for Hon. Benson’s contributions, saying, “On behalf of the school, we thank you for all you have done for us. May God continue to bless and strengthen you.”

The ceremony concluded with a renewed call for inclusive governance and equitable resource allocation for Ikorodu. As the community celebrates the completion of the Eruwen Road, residents remain hopeful for further progress under Hon. Benson’s leadership.
