Former Governor of Kano State and 2023 Presidential aspirant, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed concern over remarks made by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who recently described Nigeria as a “country of particular concern.”
In a statement posted on his X handle on Sunday, Kwankwaso underscored Nigeria’s sovereignty and highlighted that the country faces security challenges from outlaws that affect all citizens regardless of religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation.
He called on the U.S. to support Nigerian authorities with advanced technology to combat insecurity, rather than issuing labels that could deepen divisions.
Kwankwaso also urged the Nigerian government to appoint special envoys and permanent ambassadors to effectively represent the country’s interests internationally.
Addressing Nigerians directly, he stressed the importance of national unity, calling for a focus on collective belonging over division.
“God bless Nigeria,” Kwankwaso concluded.
The statement adds to ongoing debates about Nigeria’s security situation and its perception on the global stage, highlighting calls for constructive international collaboration rather than punitive designations.
