Reactions have continued to trail the decision of Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to ban the operations of commercial motorcycle riders in six local governments in the state.

BlackBox Nigeria had reported that Sanwo-Olu announced the indefinite ban on Wednesday, saying the decision was reached in order to immediately address the chaos and menace created by the operations of Okada riders in the affected areas — Ikeja, Surulere, Eti-Osa, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, and Apapa.

However, some leaders of the Hausa community in Lagos have appealed to the governor to rethink the directive.

Speaking with The PUNCH in separate interviews, the leaders agreed that the move was necessary, but however urged to the governor to reverse the ban.

In his view, the Seriki of Obalende, Saliu Waziri urged the Lagos State Government to create a database of all Okada riders in order to fish out any intruder or criminally minded people.

In the same vein, the Seriki Hausa of Ajah, Ibrahim Ngoma admitted that the State Government had been understanding and pleaded with Okada riders to be law-abiding, while appealing to the governor to look into the matter and lift the ban.

Meanwhile, the ban came days after some commercial motorcyclists lynched a sound engineer identified as David Imoh in the Lekki axis of Lagos state following a misunderstanding over N100 balance.
