The social media sphere has gone agog with news that CBN is set to make dollars available for Muslims going on hajj at an outrageous N197 to a dollar when the same goes for N400 on the parallel market.
According to a new circular from the Trade and Exchange Department of the Central Bank of Nigeria, 2016 Hajj pilgrims are to benefit an offer of N197 to a dollar as exchange rate for the personal travel allowance (PTA) as they embark on this year’s pilgrim journey.
This special call is coming on the heels of scarcity of the dollar for both education and medical travelling. Many individuals and businesses have suffered setbacks in getting required forex for the proper running of their respective activities.
As expected social media users especially on Twitter and Instagram are calling out the government for favouring Muslims for over others.
