In a shocking incident that unfolded on Friday morning, unidentified gunmen, suspected to be bandits plaguing parts of Zamfara State, abducted an undisclosed number of students from the Federal University of Gusau.
The harrowing incident took place in the Sabon-Gida community, Bungudu Local Government Area of the state.
Reports indicate that the assailants, armed and dangerous, launched their attack on three female hostels, unleashing a hail of bullets before forcibly taking the terrified students to an unknown location.
Efforts to obtain official information from the State’s Police command were unsuccessful, as the command’s spokesperson, Muhammed Shehu, was unreachable at the time.
However, a Sabon-Gida resident named Nazeer Sabon-Gida confirmed the terrifying assault to Channels TV, revealing that the invaders descended upon the community at approximately 3 a.m. on Friday.
According to him, all three student hostels were targeted, and the bandits made off with all the students they found.
“Their entry into the town around 3 a.m. was marked by indiscriminate gunfire. As for the exact number of kidnapped students, we are yet to confirm, as the bandits targeted three hostels, making it challenging to ascertain their total count,” stated Nazeer Sabon-Gida, reflecting the tense and uncertain situation that has gripped the community and the university.
