Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO) has launched an innovative project aimed at improving the quality of life for households and empowering women in underserved communities.

The “Waste for Gas” initiative, which will provide 3,000 3kg gas cylinders and burners to low-income families in Obafemi Owode Local Government, Mowe, Ogun State, is designed to reduce reliance on firewood and charcoal, offering a more sustainable cooking option.

The project, which also promotes responsible waste management through an exchange programme, will unfold in two phases.

The first phase includes door-to-door visits to identify beneficiaries across 12 wards in Obafemi Owode local government from Monday to Friday, February 18th – 21st, 2025 while the second phase focuses on ensuring the successful adoption of gas-powered cooking from Saturday 22nd to 23rd of the same month.

GTCO’s Group CEO, Mr. Segun Agbaje, emphasized the company’s commitment to creating lasting impacts through sustainable interventions, aiming to improve both the financial resilience and quality of life for the communities it serves.

In his words, “At GTCO, we are committed to driving progress, not just through innovative financial solutions but by creating real impact in the communities where we operate. Waste for Gas is about making life easier for families, giving them more time for what truly matters—whether it’s education, meaningful work, or personal development. Beyond this initiative, our goal is to continually evolve sustainable platforms that empower people, strengthen communities, and contribute to socioeconomic progress.”
