GTCO Launches 2024 Autism Program with Focus on Empowerment and Inclusivity

Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (“GTCO” or “the Group”) has unveiled its plans for the 2024 GTCO Autism Program under the theme “A Spectrum of Possibilities,” aimed at promoting inclusivity, self-advocacy, and empowerment for individuals on the Autism Spectrum.

The announcement, made today by GTCO executives, highlights the program’s dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, emphasizing the belief that every individual should have the opportunity to thrive and achieve their full potential, regardless of their background or abilities.

Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is a complex neurodevelopmental condition that affects communication, behavior, and social interaction. It is characterized by a wide range of symptoms and severity levels, which can vary widely among individuals.

The theme, “A Spectrum of Possibilities,” underscores the diverse strengths, challenges, and untapped potential within the autism community.

As a flagship initiative under the Orange Ribbon Initiative, the GTCO Autism Program has established itself as a leading advocate for autism awareness and intervention across Africa.

Over the years, the program has positively impacted thousands of individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders.

This year’s program will feature a lineup of lectures, panel discussions, and performances curated to showcase the unique talents within the autism community, with contributions from specialists and partner organizations both locally and internationally.

The program aims to create a supportive platform where families, caregivers, and experts can connect, share experiences, and exchange insights on various aspects of autism.

It will be held on July 15th and 16th at the prestigious Muson Centre, Lagos, Nigeria. Additionally, free one-on-one clinic consultations will be available from July 16th to 20th at the Chapel of Light, Alausa, Ikeja.

In Ghana, the program kicks off with a workshop on July 23rd at the University of Professional Studies, Accra, followed by consultations from July 23rd to 27th at the same venue.

Mr. Segun Agbaje, Group Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc, expressed his enthusiasm for the 2024 GTCO Autism Program, stating: “We are dedicated to empowering individuals with autism to lead fulfilling lives and make meaningful contributions to society. By embracing autism as a strength and promoting inclusivity, we aim to unlock the limitless potential within each person with ASD.”

He added: “Our commitment extends beyond awareness to action, creating a society where diversity is celebrated, inclusion is embraced, and everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
