Eko Boys’ High School of Mushin continued their rich vein of form in the 2018 Master Cup as they brushed aside Ansar Ul Dean of Isolo 2 – 0 at CMS grammar school, Bariga.
After Mounting serious pressure on the AUD defence in the first half, the Ekorians were not able to register a single goal. Big forward, Ajao Ahmed and strike Partner, Aliu Faruk squandered a lot of clear cut chances to put the Ekorians in front.
The giants of Mushin continued to fire from all cylinders and the deadlock was finally broken midway through the second half when Balogun Aderoju headed home an inch perfect corner kick by enthusiastic winger, Ishola Basit.
With the one goal lead, the Ekorians who needed the three maximum points to qualify as 1st in group F went through an apprehensive end to the game knowing fully well that the Muslim Boys’ from Surulere needed just a goal to restore parity.
However, Super sub Kareem Suleiman, who came in against western to score turns provider as he sent in a low cross into the box and Ishola Basit was in the right place at the right time to slot home and taking the game beyond the reach of the Boys from Surulere. The enthusiastic winger has now scored 3 goals in the GTB Masters Cup.
The victory sends the Ekorians to the summit of group F with 6 points and a game to spare. The Euba Boys’ have now scored 9 and conceded none in the 2018 GTB Masters Cup.
The 2014 Champions will now shift their attention to their third and final group F game against Avi Cenna international of Ikeja.
