The board of trustees and executives of a youth development-based organization on Friday agreed to sponsor shortlisted applicants who were screened on Friday for a one-million-naira loan to support various small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Blackbox Nigeria gathered that the development is in line with the 2019 recommendations made at the 2019 youth summit, an annual programme organized by the Ikorodu Division of Youth Initiative Movement.
According to the secretary of the board of trustee, Sola Sokoya, the screening exercise was organized in different phases and had commenced immediately after the end of this year’s youth summit.
“The first phase involve an online registration in which fifty-seven youths within Ikorodu division registered, the second phase of the screening exercise was submission of business profile in which only ten youths submitted their various business profiles, the third is the on-going screening, and the last phase will be presentation of loan to successfully screened applicants.
“All the successfully screened applicant’s will be given One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000) as loan to support their various businesses” he concluded” Mr. Sola said
The youth movement have started her first free skill acquisition and vocational training programme as part of her efforts towards arresting the social vices and rising unemployment amongst youths in the division. Forms are available at Ikorodu Town Hall and applicants are expected to submit on before Friday 15th of November, 2019.
The screening process further witnessed the presence of key players of the movement. They include; Dr. Fatai Abiodun-Abatan, Chairman of the board of trustee of trustee, Mr. Oke Godwin Olaoluwa, Member of the board of trustee, Mr. Sola Shokoya, Secretary of the board of trustee, Mr. Bisiriyu Samson, Executive Director of the movement, and Mr. Olamide Oloyede Executive Member.
