The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has been training residents of Lagos State on how to upcycle water hyacinth into crafts across the state.

The project is built around the common goal of transforming water hyacinth into beneficial use of handcrafted products which has taken place in different Zones in the State namely Epe,Badagry, Ikorodu and Lagos Island thereby Empowering over 300 youths and women in the upcycling of Water Hyacinth.
According to MITIMETH, the partnership with LASWA, ”is a partnership that is clearly aligned with the Global Goals, specifically SDG 17 – Strategic Partnerships.
”We would like to say a big thank you to the Lagos State Government, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, The Honorable Commissioner Ministry of Transportation, Dr Fredric Oladehinde, and the General Manager LASWA, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel and his team for bringing this vision to reality. We strongly believe that circular economy innovations will be birthed right here as a result of this public-private partnership between LASWA and MITIMETH.”
