Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has announced a 24-hour curfew in response to widespread violence and chaos that erupted during the #EndBadGovernance protest.
The protests, initially peaceful, turned destructive as hoodlums and thugs took advantage, vandalizing public and private properties, and causing harm to citizens.
Addressing reporters at the Government House in Kano on Thursday, Governor Abba Yusuf condemned the hijacking of the peaceful protests by criminals.
“We have observed widespread vandalism of shops, buses, and public buildings, as well as indiscriminate harm to innocent citizens. Based on the authority vested in me by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and as the Chief Security Officer of the state, I hereby declare a 24-hour curfew in the state with immediate effect,” Governor Abba declared.
