Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing unresolved internal crises within the party as his reason for leaving.
In a resignation letter dated November 4, 2025, and addressed to the Ward 2 Chairman of the PDP in Sagba/Abogunde, Ede North Local Government Area, Governor Adeleke expressed appreciation for the platform the party provided him throughout his political career.
He, however, noted that the persistent leadership crisis at the national level had made it impossible for him to continue as a member of the party.
“I hereby tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party with effect from today. The internal crisis rocking the party at the national level has made it difficult for me to continue,” the letter read in part.
Although dated weeks earlier, the letter surfaced publicly on December 1, 2025, after it was released online by one of the governor’s aides.
Adeleke has yet to disclose his next political destination, fueling speculation that he may be in talks with other parties ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.
His resignation comes amid broader turbulence within the PDP, making him the fifth sitting governor to exit the party in 2025.
Political observers believe the move could reshape Osun State’s political landscape and potentially influence the PDP’s standing ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor’s camp has remained tight-lipped about his next steps, but sources say consultations are ongoing.
