Nigeria’s telecommunications giant, has unveiled its embedded SIM (e-SIM) service, allowing customers to connect to its network without the need for a physical SIM card.
The company announced the launch on Sunday, highlighting a special 5GB data bonus for users who activate the e-SIM with a minimum N1,500 data plan.
According to Globacom, the e-SIM is a digital chip embedded in smartphones and wearable devices, enabling users to switch between networks seamlessly. This new technology is expected to provide a more convenient and flexible telecom experience for users.
The e-SIM service is particularly beneficial for frequent travelers and professionals who require multiple lines without carrying multiple SIM cards. With the e-SIM, users can easily switch between networks, eliminating the need for multiple physical SIM cards.
One of the key advantages of the e-SIM, according to Globacom, is its enhanced security. Since it is built into the device, it is harder to remove compared to conventional SIM cards, reducing the risk of theft or unauthorized access.
Additionally, the e-SIM is environmentally friendly as it eliminates plastic waste associated with physical SIM production.
“With this launch, we are reinforcing our commitment to providing future-ready services to our customers,” Globacom stated.
“The e-SIM offers high-net-worth individuals and enterprise customers a seamless digital experience while also making it easier for users on other networks to join the Glo family.”
Both existing Glo customers and new users can activate the e-SIM service, giving them access to a more convenient and flexible telecom experience.
To activate the e-SIM service, users can visit any Glo outlet or contact the company’s customer care service.
