Nigerian telecommunications solutions provider, Globacom, says it has begun the registration for the National Identification Number (NIN) in its retail outlets across the country.
This followed the approval licence granted Globacom by Nigerian Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for the firm to commence NIN enrolment.
“We have deployed devices aligned with NIMC standards across several Gloworld outlets and are making immediate arrangements for our other centres across the country to commence. Our objective is to create more opportunities for Nigerians who are yet to enroll for their NIN to do so more conveniently,” says a statement issued by the telco on Friday.
The company said subscribers who already have their NIN but are yet to link them with their mobile numbers can do so by simply texting their NIN to 109. Also, they can submit their NIN for SIM linkage by dialling *109# or call 109 to update their NIN via voice call.
