Ghetto Light Ladies Sees off Wasbaz Queens Challenge, Fires WAFA League Warning With Solid Win

Ghetto Light Ladies FC on Saturday morning defeated Wasbaz Queens of Ebutte-Metta 1 – 0 in their first match since the ban on contact sports was placed in March.

To honor the memory of late Mr.Onalapo, the father of midfielder Onalapo Olawale the club donned a black armband and also observed a minute silence before the game kicked off.

As his customary in the female game, the ball spent the better part up in the air in the first half with both teams struggling to pick the pieces.

The match needed a moment of brilliance and the game got that when right back Wakil Khadijat launched home a long range free kick to put the home team in front.

Wasbaz Queens asked all the questions of the ghetto Light Ladies defense but the defensive chain anchored by Adeagbo Bidemi ensure that the game didn’t get an equaliser.

The Ghetto ballers will now test the resolve of SGH Queens at the women’s amateur championship round of 16 in Gbagada next week.

A solitary strike was all the ghetto ballers needed to begin their campaign on a positive note and also turning the tides for their club by starting the count for another run of wins for the club.

The club has now played nine matches since the relaxation of the ban contact sports racking up 6 wins, 2 draws and a loss in the process.
