The Ghana Football Association has dismissed head coach Otto Addo following a string of poor results in international friendly matches, including a recent loss to Germany.

The decision was announced on Monday, coming just hours after Ghana’s 2–1 defeat to Germany in Stuttgart, its fourth consecutive loss in friendly fixtures.

Ghana’s struggles in recent weeks played a major role in the dismissal. The Black Stars had earlier suffered a heavy 5–1 defeat to Austria and additional losses to Japan and South Korea, raising concerns over the team’s readiness ahead of major competitions.

The Ghana Football Association confirmed that it had “parted ways” with Addo with immediate effect, signalling urgency in addressing the team’s declining form.

Addo’s exit comes just about 72 days before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Ghana is scheduled to compete in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.

The timing of the decision underscores growing pressure on the federation to stabilise the team before the global tournament.

Addo, who was reappointed in March 2024, managed 22 matches during his second spell, recording eight wins and nine losses.

Despite guiding Ghana to qualification for the 2026 World Cup, his tenure was criticised after the team failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Ghana Football Association has yet to announce a replacement, but reports indicate that a new coach will be appointed swiftly to oversee preparations for upcoming friendlies and the World Cup.
