Unconformity report reaching Blackbox say that President Bola Tinubu has made his first appointment by selecting Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, to serve as his Chief of Staff.
After careful consideration of potential candidates among his loyalists, President Tinubu made the decision to appoint Gbajabiamila.
Gbajabiamila, who has not yet received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), will need to forgo his sixth-term election into the House of Representatives.
This decision opens up an opportunity for other party members who had put their aspirations on hold to represent Surulere constituency 1 at the House of Representatives.
According to sources, Gbajabiamila was chosen by President Tinubu following a conclusive meeting with stakeholders that concluded on Thursday morning at the Villa in Abuja.
Recall that Speaker Gbajabiamila, has dismissed insinuations he is being considered as chief of staff to the president-elect Bola Tinubu three months ago.
According to him, the reason why he didn’t collect his certificate of return was because he was campaigning for APC in Lagos for the gubernatorial election .
He said, “I don’t know anything about that chief of staff thing. All I heard was that I didn’t come here last week to pick up my certificate of return and for that reason, somebody conjectured that I must be in line for the office because I didn’t care about my mandate. ”
