Kano State governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has claimed the award for the Most Outstanding Governor in the management of Covid-19 at an international conference hosted by Nigerian Guild of Medical Directors in Abuja.
The governor, who was represented by the Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, was commended for his commitment to the improvement of healthcare delivery service in the state.
The commissioner stated the Kano State government has invested a lot of resources in the fight against Covid-19.
Recall Kano State is the 9th most affected state by the Covid-19 pandemic, according to the latest NCDC figures. In 2020, the state was faced by mysterious death, resulting to the mass burial of victims.
Meanwhile, during the award presentation, the Executive Secretary, Private Health Institution Management Agency (PHIMA) Kano State, Dr. Usman Tijani Aliyu was also presented with the award of Outstanding Performance for the agency’s campaign against quackery in the state.
The conference had in its attendance the Vice President of Nigeria who was represented by the DG NCDC, as well as representatives of governors of Gombe and Borno states, Inspector General of Police, and the President of GMLD.
