Nigerian event planner Funke Bucknor-Obruthe has moved swiftly to dismiss viral social media claims that superstar singer Davido owes her $50,000 for planning his wedding, calling the allegations false and misleading.

The founder and CEO of Zapphaire Events, the company credited with handling the logistics of Davido and Chioma Adeleke’s high-profile white wedding in Miami, Florida took to her official Instagram page to refute the circulating posts that appeared to link her to the debt claim.

According to Bucknor-Obruthe, the screenshots and messages shared on platforms like X and Instagram did not originate from her official account and are “totally false and misleading.”

Rumours of the unpaid fee began trending online recently, with some social media users sharing screenshots that claimed the event planner was threatening legal action if the $50,000 balance was not paid within three days. Bucknor-Obruthe denied ever making the post or issuing any such message, emphasising that her only official social media presence is her verified account.

Davido himself also reacted to the saga, describing the allegations as “crazy” when the claims began circulating, according to reports.

The wedding, which took place in August 2025 following a traditional ceremony in June 2024, was widely covered by media and fans alike. Social media attention around past events in the couple’s lives including debates over personal controversies has made headlines before, contributing to public fascination with their personal narrative.

For now, both Bucknor-Obruthe and Davido have clarified that no such financial dispute exists, highlighting how quickly misinformation can spread online and impact the reputations of high-profile figures in entertainment.
