Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has dissolved his cabinet, announcing the immediate sack of all commissioners and public officers affected by the recent Supreme Court judgment.
Fubara made the announcement in Port Harcourt on Wednesday during a valedictory session with his cabinet members, held as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary.
Speaking at the session, the governor described independence as a defining moment in the nation’s history and urged Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in building a peaceful and prosperous country.
According to his spokesperson, Nelson Chukwudi, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to serve Rivers people with renewed vigour while expressing gratitude to citizens for their unwavering support.
“Furthermore, the Governor has relieved all Commissioners and other public officers affected by the recent Supreme Court judgment of their appointments with immediate effect,” Chukwudi said in a statement.
Fubara thanked his outgoing cabinet members for their services and contributions to the state’s development over the past two years, noting that their efforts had shaped his administration’s achievements.
The governor later held a private valedictory session with the dissolved cabinet at Government House, Port Harcourt.
