Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has scheduled a meeting with the Amaewhule-led members of the House of Assembly on Monday, March 10, 2025.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, the meeting became necessary following the Governor’s receipt of the Certified True Copy of the Supreme Court judgment.
The meeting will focus on several key issues, including the provision of a befitting space for the Assembly’s sittings, payment of outstanding remuneration or allowances for the Honourable members, and the presentation of the 2025 budget.
Other matters to be discussed include finding common ground and moving forward in the best interest of Rivers State.
The Governor’s invitation to the meeting is seen as a step towards resolving the ongoing tensions between the executive and legislative arms of government in the state.
The meeting is expected to hold at the Government House in Port Harcourt, and all members of the House of Assembly have been invited to attend.
The development is a significant one, coming at a time when the state is grappling with several challenges, including the need to present a budget for the 2025 fiscal year.
