The Federal Road Safety Commission has alerted Nigerians over the increase in the use of fake and unauthorized number plates by some individuals in the country.
This was contained in a public notice signed by Assistant Corps Marshal Bisi Kazeem, and published in PUNCH newspapers on Monday.
The FRSC stated that it didn’t produce the number plates (listed below) neither were they issued by the Motor Licensing Authorities of the states. They include NYCN, CYMS, UN-AMB, PEACE, LEADS, PJHR 168, AMBASSADOR, UN-V1571, NANS, NAUS and UN-UNITY 01.
Notifying the public that these number plates are used for criminal activities, the agency advised Nigerians to report anyone using such number plates to law enforcement agents.
“Government and corporate bodies should be wary in dealing with such individuals or allowing such vehicles into their premises or extend any privilege to users of such vehicles as the users are persons of doubtful characters who disguise as government officials or responsible persons.
“Members of the public are by this publication warned to immediately discontinue the use of these fake and unauthorized number plates as defaulters will be prosecuted,” the FRSC added.
