In what appears to be a major rebrand, telecommunications giant MTN has officially began its transition into a full-flegded technology company.
To look the part, the company has unveiled a new logo which bears “Y’ello” instead of “Everywhere you go” as its tagline. In the new logo, MTN ditches its famous white, yellow, and red text on a blue oval and opts for a simplified blue on yellow logo.
Here are five things you should know about MTN’s transformation.
1. The rebranding is in line with MTN Group’s Ambition 2025 which is aimed at ‘Leading digital platforms for Africa’s progress’, Nompilo Morafo, the company’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer said in a statement.
2. The company will make an official unveiling of its rebranding on February 27.
3. Morafo further revealed that what inspired the campaign is “an insight that doing is a bridge between can and done.” This, he said is “because all progress comes from action.”
4. Speaking on the refreshed brand identity, he noted that MTN’s new look aligns with their evolution from a telecommunications company to a technology company.
5. With MTN becoming a tech company, it is positioning to remain one of Nigeria’s biggest companies. It will also provide an array of services aside telecommunication products.
