A fire outbreak in the Elekahia area of Rivers State has left over 200 persons homeless and destroyed goods and properties worth millions of naira.

According to Punch Newspapers, the fire started on Friday morning. It was said to have been caused by a kerosene explosion.

However, no lives was lost in the process, as residents of the affected area were out at the inception of the fire.

Although the Fire Service arrived early, an official of the Federal Fire Service, John Nnemeka, reported that the team were unable to access the scene due to the nature of the houses.

Meanwhile, this incident comes barely 24 hours after an explosion rocked the Okene area of Kogi state leaving four persons dead and two injured.
