Former Super Eagles Star, Jonathan Akpoborie, Facilitates Medical Outreach In Delta State

The former Eagle star, Jonathan Akpoborie has commenced free medical treatment for people in Ozoro, Delta State.

Godwin Enakhena, the CEO at Global Media made this known on his Facebook page on Monday, stating that the philanthropist is not showy about his impacts and humanitarian gesture.

His post, “I know a lot of Nigerian athletes, active and retired who are giving back to society but because of our peculiarities as a nation, these guys don’t make so much noice about their humanitarian gestures.
As we speak, a former Super Eagles, Stuttgart, Rostock etc forward, Jonathan Akpoborie has brought medical doctors for a free medical outreach in his native Ozoro in delta state.
And he says “they’re still ongoing, just pop in if you have any medical issues, they just might be able to help. It’s all for free please”

Jonathan Akpoborie is a Nigerian footballer who has acheived in the field and spent some years in Germany pursuing his career.

Akpoborie was part of Nigeria team that won first edition of the FIFA U-16 Championship in 1985, and scored in the final against the then West Germany.

He also featured for the Flying Eagles at the 1987 FIFA World Youth Championship in Chile.

Akpoborie was selected for the 1992 and 2000 Africa Cup of Nations where and he won bronze and silver.

His first senior cap was in a 1992 Africa Cup of Nations Third-place match against Cameroon, which the Super Eagles won.

While playing for Super Eagle, Akpoborie scored his first goal against Mexico at the 1995 U.S. Cup on 24 June 1995. He got his second goal – a 48th-minute equalizer – in a 1–1 draw with Kenya in a 1998 FIFA World Cup qualification match on 12 January 1997.

Akpoborie featured in a number of games ahead of the 2002 FIFA World Cup. In the 2002 FIFA World Cup qualification – CAF First Round, he scored his fourth goal in Nigeria’s 4–0 win over Eritrea in Lagos.
