Former female soldier Private Ruth Ogunleye, who was discharged from service after accusing Colonel I.B. Abdulkareem of sexual harassment, has revealed further details about her ordeal.

In a recent interview on an Africa Independent Television, she alleged that senior officers including General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the current Chief of Defence Staff, ignored her reports and failed to investigate her case thoroughly due to Abdulkareem’s seniority.

“The story is a Cooked-up story, it’s just a planned work, Colonel I.B. Abdulkareem asked me to sleep with him at a hotel, which I refused on 27th February 2022”

She went further “I sought intervention from people like General C. G. Musa, the current Chief of Defence Staff. I told him. I told so many officers. I sought redress but nothing was done because he is my senior, and nobody was ready to give me a listening ear.” she stated

Moreover, Ruth disclosed that her discharge process was irregular, alleging that the Minister of Women Affairs instructed her to write the letter for discharge. Sheasi stated that the discharge was not handled according to proper military protocols.

However, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, claimed that Ogunleye’s allegations lacked merit. He added that after a review of the facts, testimonies, and evidence, it was determined that Abdulkareem did not commit the offenses alleged by Ogunleye. Nwachukwu also cited medical reports from the National Hospital in Abuja, which indicated that Ogunleye was suffering from a condition that rendered her medically vulnerable stating that the officers she accused of sexually assaulting her were all innocent

Ogunleye has also taken to her TikTok page, @Ogunleyeruthsavage, where she accused General Nwachukwu of orchestrating threats against her life.

Recall that In January 2024, through her TikTok page, @Ogunleyeruthsavage, Ruth alleged that Colonel I.B. Abdulkareem, Colonel G.S. Ogor, and Brigadier General I.B. Solebo had made her life unbearable by sexually assaulting her
