Former Presidential Aide, Doyin Okupe Dies at 72

Dr. Doyin Okupe, a renowned Nigerian physician, politician, and former presidential aide, has passed away at the age of 72.

His death was reportedly linked to cancer, a battle he fought for many years.

According to sources close to the family, Dr. Okupe’s health had deteriorated significantly in the weeks leading up to his demise.

He was first diagnosed with prostate cancer 16 years ago and later developed sarcoma in his right shoulder.

Dr. Okupe was hospitalized with prostate cancer in October 2023 and was flown to Israel for treatment.

Unfortunately, his condition did not improve as he and his family had hoped.

Throughout his career, Dr. Okupe served as Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Olusegun Obasanjo and Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Goodluck Jonathan.

He was a respected voice in Nigerian politics, known for his passion, dedication, and commitment to public service.
