Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has accepted a new role as the head of football operations for Red Bull, the parent company of clubs in Leipzig, Salzburg, and New York.
This appointment comes after Klopp concluded his nine-year tenure with Liverpool, during which he achieved significant success, including winning the Premier League and the Champions League.
Klopp’s new position will officially begin on January 1, 2025. According to a statement from Red Bull, he will not be involved in the day-to-day management of the clubs but will instead focus on high-level strategic planning.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be involved in a project like this,” Klopp stated, emphasizing his intention to serve as a mentor for the coaches and management teams across the Red Bull organization.
Reports from Sky Germany indicate that Klopp’s contract contains an exit clause that would allow him to take over as the manager of the German national team if approached. His wealth of experience and past successes position him well to influence the development and direction of Red Bull’s football operations.
