Seyi Jakande, son of the late Lagos State Governor Alhaji Lateef Jakande, has been elected as the Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA, marking a new chapter in the Jakande political legacy.

According to the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Jakande, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured a commanding victory with 58,446 votes. His closest competitors trailed far behind: the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate received 1,743 votes, while the Labour Party (LP) polled 1,464 votes.

Seyi, the third son of the esteemed former governor, had previously served as the Vice Chairman of the LCDA since 2017, deputizing under Chairman Rasaq Ajala.

His strong grassroots presence and community rapport were pivotal in securing his advancement within the local government.

Ahead of the 2025 local government elections, Seyi Jakande was tipped as the leading candidate to succeed Ajala.

Reports indicated he had the full backing of both the incumbent chairman and the Governor’s Advisory Council in Mushin Local Government.

This internal support helped him emerge as the consensus APC candidate during the primaries.

At 38 years old, Seyi enters the chairmanship with a reputation for humility and respect within the LCDA, drawing praise for his similarity to his father’s values.

Political insiders expect he will leverage that legacy to drive development and good governance.

Seyi’s official election contributes to a growing pattern of political continuity in Lagos.

As previously reported, the Jakande name has remained influential within the APC’s local government landscape.

In May 2025, the party’s primaries saw several notable contenders lose out, while Seyi’s ticket sailed through for Odi‑Olowo.

His ascension marks a significant milestone in his political career, signaling both public trust and a commitment to delivering on local development.

As he prepares to assume office, residents of Odi‑Olowo Ojuwoye are reportedly optimistic that Jakande will continue the legacy of dedicated public service and community-focused leadership exemplified by his late father.
