Former INEC Chair, Reno Omokri, Adeniyi Adebayo’s wife, others make Tinubu’s ambassadorial list

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated 32 additional ambassadors, expanding his earlier submissions to the Senate and strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic corps with a mix of seasoned technocrats, political figures, and career foreign service officers.

In two letters addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, President Tinubu requested the swift confirmation of 15 career ambassadors and 17 political nominees ambassadors.

The new list features 10 women, including four career diplomats and six political nominees.

Among the nominees are the notable ones like the immediate past chairman of INEC, professor Mahmoud Yakubu; a former presidential aide and a staunch supporter of president Tinubu, Reno Omokri; Former first Lady of Ekiti state, Mrs Erelu Angela Adebayo; former deputy governor of Lagos State, Femi Pedro and others.

According to the state house press release, the nominees upon confirmation by the Senate will be deployed to different countries with which Nigeria maintains bilateral partnerships as well as multilateral missions.

This marks the latest developments in strengthening Nigeria’s international relations over the last two years since majority of the ambassadors were recalled back home.
