Former House Of Reps Speaker, Dimeji Bankole, Set To Join APC

It appears a gale of defections will continue to rock the Nigeria political landscape ahead of 2023.

Oladimeji Bankole, a former speaker of the house of representatives, is set to defect from the Action Democratic Party (ADP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Bankole, who was the candidate of the ADP during the 2019 governorship election in Ogun, met with the Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, and Jigawa State Governor, Abubakar Badaru, in Abuja, on Friday.

This was contained in a statement by the Yobe State Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Mohammed Mamman.

“The Chairman, APC Caretaker Committee, Mai Mala Buni, today (Friday) hosted former Speaker, House of Representatives, Oladimeji Bankole, and Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Badaru.

“The three leaders discussed a wide range of political issues, including the movement of the former Speaker and his supporters into the party. It is evident that APC’s opportunities in Ogun State are growing and widening,” the statement said.

Bankole’s move to the APC is coming weeks after a former governor of Ogun State and Director-General of Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organisation, Otunba Gbenga Daniel joined the party.
