Nigeria’s Best State Varsity, Lagos State Univeristy, is set to hold another edition of its lecture series as Africa’s foremost businesswoman, Folorunsho Alakija (Hon. D A H) has agreed to deliver the 2nd Distinguished Lecture.
She gave her positive nod to the delegate of the University that paid her a courtesy visit in her office in Lagos on Thursday.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun led a small team of the University Management to appreciate the presence of the prolific woman in it’s last Convocation Ceremony, where she was also honoured with a Honourary Doctorate Degree.
Prof Fagbohun eulogised her for her role in societal development which he said was laying legacy for the younger generation.
He said, “You are impacting positively on young generation. Your legacy in years to come can never be forgotten.”
It will be recalled that the Prof Fagbohun-led management inaugurated a Distinguish Lecture series last year with primary focus on selecting notable role models in the society who are captains of industries and renowned professionals to encourage, advise and mentor the students in taking decisive steps that will lead them to actualisation of their dreams.
The very 1st Distinguished Lecture was delivered by Africa’s topmost banker, Mr Tony Elumelu CFR, Chairman of UBA Group, Heirs Holdings and Transcorp. His lecture was titled, “Entrepreneurship: The Challenges and Opportunities for Nigeria’s Future Leaders”. It was delivered on November 16th, 2016 at the University Main Auditorium.
Mr Jeariogbe Olaniyi Sam, an Information, Press and Public Relation Officer of the University briefed BlackBox Nigeria after the meeting that Mrs Alakija is prepared to lecture both staff and students in the next Distinguished Lecture series coming up shortly.
Among the team that accompanied the Vice Chancellor on the visit are; the Registrar, Mr Oladapo Lewis; the Bursar, Mr. Adetayo Hassan; the University Librarian, Dr. Adebambo Oduwole; the Acting Director of CIPPR, Mr Ademola Martin; a protocol official, Director of the University Multi-media and two others.
