Following PDP loss, ex-governor Segun Oni decamps to APGA ahead of Ekiti guber polls

Ahead of the Ekiti State gubernatorial election billed to hold in June, an aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Segun Oni has switched camps to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Oni, a former Ekiti State governor, had condemned the PDP governorship primary election which he lost, describing the outcome of the exercise as “flawed”.

He also accused former Governor Ayodele Fayose of conniving with the primary election committee led by Akwa Ibom governor, Emmanuel Udom, to impose the former’s protégé, Bisi Kolawole as the PDP flagbearer.

Unrelenting in his bid to lead Ekiti again, Oni appears to have decamped to APGA. Campaign posters of the ex-governor with the name of his new party have since surfaced on social media.

Should APGA hand over its Ekiti guber ticket to Oni, the self-styled “third force” party will be looking forward to replicating its recent victory in Anambra State in the Southwest by leveraging on the ex-governor’s political network and teeming supporters.
