Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the Director General of Nigeria’s National Intelligence Agency (NIA), has submitted his resignation to President Bola Tinubu.
The resignation announced on Saturday, has sparked speculation due to the undisclosed reasons.
The NIA oversees Nigeria’s foreign intelligence and counterintelligence efforts under the federal government.
Social media has reacted with various speculations and concerns. Ogechukwu Chime noted, “Very strange. First government official to resign willingly.”
Another user added, “Until reasons are revealed, it’s strange to us as a nation.”
