Fire outbreak Claims Six, Nine Suffers Burns in Lagos

A fire outbreak in the early hour of today at the Adeola Odeku area of Victoria Island, Lagos, has claimed no fewer than six persons’ lives.

Recall that BLACKBOXNIGERIA had earlier reported about the inferno.

The fire gutted a building suspected to be occupied by a bank and cars were also seen burning in the inferno.

The fire was said to have been caused by a generator explosion that occurred in the area this morning.

According to Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu the Permanent Secretary of
LASEMA, he said:

“On arrival at the scene of incident it was observed that a Providus bank branch under construction was on fire.

Further investigation gathered at the scene revealed the fire emanated from the Generator house.

The immediate response of the LRT, Lagos Fire Service and Rescue, FED Fire Service and UBA Fire prevented the fire from spreading to the main building.

Nine adult males that suffered burns and injuries were taken to hospital.

Unfortunately, the CSO and security operatives attached to the bank were hostile and refused LASEMA Response Team access into the generator house to recover and bag the body of an adult male discovered after dampening down was over.”

It was gathered that a yet-to-be identified middle aged man was been burnt to death in the fire outbreak that engulfed the Providus Bank Head Office on Adeola Odeku, Victoria Island.

Similar incidence happened at popular Lagos market as fire guts Tejuosho Market, Yaba.

However, there is no Information about what led to the inferno but some shops at the market were affected.

Goods worth millions Of naira was burnt to ashes as a result of the fire outbreak.
