Properties and goods worth millions of naira have been destroyed at the popular Ogbe-Ogonogo market in Asaba, the Delta state capital.
Though the immediate and remote cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, many of the traders resorted to self-help in a bid to salvage their goods as other residents and passers-by also besieged the scene of the inferno, defying physical distancing guideline, as they lamented the damage done by the fire.
Some of the affected persons were said to be angered over the absence of the state fire service, however, a government official was available to calm the aggrieved traders.
