Finally, you can now edit your tweets

After 16 years of wait and accompanying pleas, it appears Twitter users will finally be able to edit their tweets on the microblogging platform.

Since its creation in 2006, tweeps have always complained about their inability to make corrections to their already posted tweets.

In what may be considered a sigh of relief, the social media platform announced on Thursday that it is actively testing its much-requested Edit Tweet feature.

“Tweets will be able to be edited a few times in the 30 minutes following their publication,” the company said in a blog post.

“Edited Tweets will appear with an icon, timestamp, and label so it’s clear to readers that the original Tweet has been modified.”

Users of Twitter Blue – the subscription offering now available in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zeeland- “receive early access to features and help us test them before they come to Twitter,” the company added.
