FINALLY! NIGERIA TO BEGIN LOCAL PRINTING OF PASSPORT
BlackBox Nigeria reports that all is set for Nigeria to start producing her international passports on home ground, this was the implication as the Federal Government yesterday, Tuesday Febraury 5th 2019 signed a Memorandum of Understanding, for the domestication of production of Nigeria’s international passports.
The agreement was signed between IRIS SMART TECHNOLOGY LTD, an indigenous company, and Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Plc at the Ministry of Interior in Abuja.
This development was first made public when the Minister of Interior, Lt.-Gen. Abdulraham Dambazau took to his Twitter handle to inform public that passport production will now be domesticated in a protected data base thereby creating employment for Nigerians.

“Today the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company and IRIS SMART TECHNOLOGY signed MoU for the domestication of passport production. With this development, our database will be protected; opportunity for Nigerians to be employed in this venture; savings in FOREX.” He tweeted.
The domestication entails that production of e-passport will be done in Nigeria alone and will no longer be done by foreigners

The minister said that the process that led to the signing of the MoU began two years ago, explaining that before the agreement, passport booklets were produced outside the country.
