FGN Suspends National Air Carrier After Spending N1.2 billion On Logo Launch

The Federal Government of Nigeria at the Federal Executive Council meeting yesterday has announced the immediate suspension of the National carrier barely two months after it unveiled Nigeria Air at the Farnborough Air show in England on July 18.
The minister of state Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja while briefing newsmen. No explanation was immediately given for the cancellation by Mr Sirika aside the follow up he gave on twitter.

“I regret to announce that the Federal Executive Council has taken the tough decision to suspend the National Carrier project in the interim. All commitments due will be honoured. We thank the public for the support as always” he tweeted.
It will be recall at the launch of the Logo in England, the project that was supposed to gulp billions of naira was praised for its potential to create jobs for Nigeria. The project before the sudden announcement yesterday had gulped a whopping N1.2 billion in the two months of its existence on paper.
