Federal government has annouced a total shutdown of the popular third mainland Bridge for three days.
According to the The federal controller of works in Lagos, Olukayode Popoola, in a statement on Wednesday said the bridge will be shut down from midnight October 9 to midnight on Sunday, October 11,this is to enable special repair works on the 11.8km platform.
The total closure of this section of the bridge is to ensure that there is no vibration on the bridge during the casting in-place of the newly installed expansion joints.Commuters are hereby informed to find alternative routes.
Constructed in 1990, the bridge was adjudged as the longest in Africa until 1996 when the Oct. 6 Bridge in Cairo, Egypt was completed.
