The Federal Government has reportedly secured the release of 100 schoolchildren abducted from St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary School in Papiri, Niger State.
According to reports, the children were among those taken when armed assailants struck the school in late November 2025: an attack that led to the abduction of over 300 students and staff initially.
The FG’s intervention, involving security agencies, reportedly facilitated the release, bringing relief to families anxiously waiting for information.
Still, many students remain missing, and parents have called for sustained efforts to secure the return of all abductees.
The development comes amid growing national pressure on the government to strengthen protection of pupils and crack down on widespread kidnappings affecting schools across northern Nigeria.
