The Federal Government has honoured Nafisah Abdullahi, a 15-year-old from Yobe State, with a cash award of N200,000 after she emerged world’s best in English language skills at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London, United Kingdom.
Nafisah outshone more than 20,000 students from 69 countries to clinch the top spot at the prestigious competition, which tests participants in English proficiency, logic, leadership, and creativity.
Two other Nigerian students, Rukaiya Fema and Khadija Kalli also excelled in their respective categories at the contest, representing the country through the Nigerian Tulip International College, Yobe State.
The award presentation took place on Thursday in Abuja, where the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suiwaba Ahmad, commended the teenagers’ outstanding achievements.
Alausa hailed their success as proof of Nigeria’s talent and a reflection of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to human capital development through increased investments in education, health, and social protection.
“You are the future of Nigeria, and you have made us proud. For the first time in our history, we have one of the highest budgetary allocations to education. Each time we approach the President for support, he says ‘yes’ because he believes in you,” Alausa said.
In addition to Nafisah’s prize, the minister announced over N100,000 in rewards for her colleagues who also excelled in other categories at the global finals.
The TeenEagle Global Finals is regarded as one of the world’s toughest academic competitions, attracting top students from around the globe each year.
