The suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari will finally be extradited to the United States to stand trial for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering and identity theft.
According to reports, the Federal Government has approved the extradition request of the American authorities.
This comes weeks after the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami revealed that the Nigerian Government and the Government of the United States were discussing the possible extradition of the embattled police officer.
Kyari had been indicted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in a $1.1 million scam over his alleged collaboration with a self-confessed international fraudster, Hushpuppi.
Though he had denied the allegations, the embattled cop was relieved of his appointment as the officer in charge of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT).
The police authorities began an internal investigation on the matter, fuelling calls for Abba Kyari to be extradited to the United State.
The decorated police officer recently landed himself in a bigger mess after he was alleged of links with an international drug cartel. He is currently in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
