FG Hands Over Abandoned Monument, National Arts Theatre To Bankers Committee
The Federal Government earlier today handed over the remains of the National Art Theatre to the Central Bank of Nigeria and Committee of Banks for renovation of the edifice.
The national monument which have been abandoned for a long period of time was officially handed over to Bankers Committee, which consists of Chief Executive Officers of Commercial Banks for a total revamping and development.
At the event to represent the Federal Government was Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed who handed over the property to Governor of the CBN, Godwin Emefiele in presence of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Hamzat Obafemi.
BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the Bankers Committee have earmarked a $50m Redevelopment Plan for the National Arts Theatre which was first completed in 1976. It was learnt that the plan also includes redeveloping the edifice and develop surrounding lands for a creative industry zone, rail station and technology zone.
