Cristiano Ronaldo has been scammed of an estimated 288,000 Euros by a female employee of a travel agency.

The woman, 53-year-old Maria Silva, who was entrusted with Ronaldo’s credit card details, carried out the crimes over a period of three years.

According to Portuguese outlet Journal De Noticias, the €288,000 she scammed him out of – £245,770 – amounted to around 200 trips he never made between Portugal and other European countries as well as Europe and Africa and the US.

The 36-year-old wasn’t the only victim. Reports further claim she also scammed his agent Jorge Mendes out of over £14,000 as well as more than £1,500 from former Man United winger Nani.

Ronaldo’s former teammate in the Portugal national team, Simao Sabrosa, also said the striker was among the victims that Maria transferred their cash into her private account instead of a company account as part of her fraud.

Meanwhile, Maria’s offence saw her handed a four-year suspended prison sentence at a court in Porto.
