A Nigerian lady identified as Annabel Oluchi has taken to social media to express her outrage after being denied a job due to her height.
After applying for a job, the joy of every applicant is to make it to the next stage of the recruitment process, this was the case of Annabel, but it was short-lived.
Sharing her story on Twitter on Wednesday, the jobseeker stated that she had been invited to an interview at a large, posh hotel in the Victoria Island area of Lagos. Eager to land the job, she made her way to the location despite being soaked by the rain.
However, when Annabel was called in for an interview, she claimed she was told she was too short for the job and was therefore denied employment.
Selected for this great job. Finally it was my turn to be interviewed only for the interviewer to tell me I'm too short to work for the company that they can't take me because of my height. My God! I was so sad. All the Time, effort, hopes was just in vain. 🥺😭

Expectedly, mixed reactions have since trailed the post as netizens took to the comment section to air out their opinions.
@samuelolawale said: “This is pure discrimination. How does your height affect the work.”
@Johnnybuchi opined: “Sorry about your experience, but I must say that every job has its requirements which is normal. Some jobs interviewers might tell u they dont want chubby people, others will say they don’t need slim or short, It’s not discrimination, it’s their requirements.”
@John_Maduagwu wrote: “My brother went for an interview in a bank and was asked him if he knew the MD, any of the directors or anybody who knows them. He lost the job as he didn’t know them. This is how great workers are lost on the alter of stupidity. Please 4get them. U deserve a better place.”
@jeje baby asked: “Please… What type of job were you interviewing for? No, seriously. I’m beyond baffled. Height?? They rejected a candidate because of height???”
