Former Lagos State governor and Minister for Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola has mourned the passing of the first civilian governor of the State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande.
Jakande, aged 91, died in the early hours of Thursday, following a slight fever on Wednesday night.
Expressing his condolences to the family of the deceased, Fashola described him as the “most illustrious predecessor”.
“The Gold Standard for Governance passes on. Rest In Peace LKJ. Most illustrious Predecessor. Condolences to Alhaja and the Children,” he tweeted.

Jakande was governor between 1979 and 1983. He would be remembered as one of the best state governors Nigeria has ever produced with structural achievements which are still visible 38 years after leaving office.
Meanwhile, burial arrangements for the late politician are slated for Friday.
