Fashola Appointed Bencher of the Body of Benchers

Former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), has been appointed as a Bencher of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The approval was granted by the Body of Benchers, the prestigious association of senior legal practitioners responsible for regulating the call to the Nigerian Bar and maintaining professional discipline within the legal profession.

Fashola’s appointment took effect from Tuesday, March 31, 2026, marking another milestone in his distinguished legal and public service career.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and former Minister of Works and Housing, Fashola is widely regarded for his contributions to governance and the legal profession.

After his ministerial tenure elapsed, he made a comeback to the legal profession with many applauding his decision. His elevation to the Body of Benchers is seen as a recognition of his experience, integrity, and longstanding commitment to the rule of law.

As a Bencher, he will join other eminent members of the legal community tasked with upholding the highest standards of legal practice in Nigeria.
