Rumours that Grammy-winning Afro-fusion star Burna Boy has embraced Islam have gained fresh attention after prominent fashion figure Rahman Jago publicly claimed the artist has converted to the Muslim faith.

In a post on X on Wednesday morning, Jago, the founder of High Fashion and a well-known socialite stated unequivocally that Burna Boy had “converted” and “is now a Muslim”, adding fuel to longstanding speculation about the musician’s spiritual journey.

The confirmation comes amid a wave of online chatter and earlier comments by political aide Bashir Ahmad, who said people close to Burna Boy reported his conversion, although the singer himself has not directly confirmed it.

Ahmad’s remark suggested there was no official statement from Burna Boy at the time, underscoring how the story has largely circulated through social media and intermediary sources.

Burna Boy whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu has previously spoken openly about his religious journey.

In a 2025 interview streamed online, he acknowledged being raised in a Christian home before making a personal decision to embrace Islam.

However, he also described his ongoing spiritual search as complex and uncertain, saying he continued to explore different beliefs in search of deeper truth.

In those past discussions, the artist said his move from Christianity to Islam was part of a broader spiritual exploration rather than simply following tradition, highlighting how faith has played a meaningful role in his life and personal development.

Since Jago’s post, reactions have varied widely online. Some fans seized the news with excitement, interpreting the alleged conversion as a significant personal shift for Burna Boy. Others urged caution, asking for an official statement directly from the singer or his management before accepting the claim as fact.

At this time, Burna Boy has not issued a public confirmation of his conversion to Islam through his official social media channels or representatives.

If confirmed, the news would add a new chapter to Burna Boy’s public narrative one that has often intertwined his music, identity and reflections on life and belief. He will also join the growing list of artists who recently embraced new faith.
